Pakistan-SemiUrban-Type: A 1.0/1.5

There is a high demand for very affordable yet comfortable and durable homes in Pakistan. This question, combined with the desire to develop self-sufficient houses / villages, has aroused our interest in participating in this. This resulted in, among other things, the SemiUrban model, intended to be built in the outer circle or in the vicinity of existing cities. The house can, if desired, function self sufficient (without any utility connections). The design focuses on the principle of a more introverted by-sun house with a central living and meeting space.

The private, introverted nature of the design (the desire for privacy) is the answer to the culture and religion practiced in the country. The houses are designed to be detached or semi-detached. Naturally, the climatic preconditions in the area have been taken into account in the design. This includes, among other things, the high temperatures (during the day and at night), the very high relative humidity, but also the increased chance of flooding (twice a year) or the pest problems (such as termites).

The models are elaborated in two different variants. A basic set-up, where the kitchen, sanitary facilities and washing facilities are situated outside the house, i.e. in the garden, and a second variant, where the functions just mentioned are designed indoors. Furthermore, a 1.5 (one and a half floors) version has been designed, where a first or even a second floor could be added with a small adjustment. The basic model can therefore be modularly expanded or topped up.
